August is always a great fishing month here in Charleston and Folly Beach. Bull Redfish, large sharks, Spanish Mackerel, Speckled Trout and Flounder provide plenty of opportunity and it seems like there is always something willing to bite on the line. Early mornings have given us the chance to break out some topwater lures for those who want to try their skill and luck. While bait fisherman have been scoring at the same time with minnows, mullet and shrimp. For the crowds that want something big on the line you can’t beat fishing for sharks and bull reds. These tough fish will grab your bait and make run after determined run to put some distance between them and the boat. If it’s a trophy you are looking for these guys are hard to beat! Families and kids of all ages can enjoy fishing with floats or sinkers for a variety of fish now and you should have no problem keeping yourselves busy reeling in fish and enjoying our beautiful surroundings.
