Fishing in Charleston SC and the local area has been great lately as cooling waters have fish feeding heavily in preparation for winter. Big Reds, Flounder, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead and many other species are biting well through the tides. Soft plastic baits like the Z-Man paddle tail in the “Bad Shad” pattern and the DOA Shrimp or Air Head are perfect choices for the angler who wants to keep moving to locate schools of active fish. If natural bait is your thing you can’t beat mud minnows, shrimp or mullet. Set these up under a cork or free line them in the current with a split shot and you will know shortly if there are any game fish around. This time of year there are almost too many opportunities to take advantage of.
