Fishing was very interesting the past few weeks as some seriously cold weather made a showing here. Charter fishing in Charleston, Isle of Palms and Folly Beach is good and layers of clothes will help keep you warm. The fishing itselft has provided enough action to keep everyone motivated. Big schools of Redfish are cruising the flats and can be caught using soft plastics and a variety of live and cut baits. Many big redfish are being caught and we have had much of the water to ourselves. Just keep in mind the fish can be spooky and lethargic during cold spells but they will definately still feed. The best thing to do is give them some room and watch how they react to your presentation. If they don’t hit the first bait you throw towards them try another. We recently had to back off our fish a few times and let them rest for 5 or 10 minutes before making another presentation and hooking up. The fish are there and biting and our cold spells will soon give ways to warm spells then Spring. There are plenty of good dates open but with Spring Break and summer vacation on everyone’s mind a lot of calls are coming in. Get you trips booked now to get the dates you want. Take a look at these guys nice Redfish we caught while temps where in the 30’s! It only gets better from here!
Lets go fishing!
