Charter fishing in Charleston and Folly Beach! One of the benefits of my work is I get to meet great people from all over the country who love fishing. I recently met this crew from Kentucky on a beautiful Folly Beach morning. We had light winds, an outgoing tide and a little chill in the air. They booked a 4 hr fishing charter as they mentioned they wanted a couple of fish for dinner. They shared with me that they fish at home fairly often and were looking for the most saltwater action we could find. We started in the Folly River in 8 ft of water, casting shrimp around sunken pilings. We boated some nice Redfish and Black Drum and kept one of each for their dinner. From there we fished a school of big Reds that have been setting up on a flat back in a creek. By then everyone had their casting dialed in and we picked off some nice over Redfish up to 34 inches and took some good pictures. Our next stop was to drift over some sunken boats to target Sheepshead. These fish can be challenging, as the bite is light and fast. Once again the crew got the hang of that quickly and they put about a dozen of those into the net. Shortly after that we called it a day and headed back to clean our catch. What a great time of year to be on the water in Folly Beach!
